About Leith and Edinburgh

The area of Leith has a distinctive local identity undergoing a process of transformation in recent years, with traditional maritime businesses co-existing with new developments, shops and cafes. Just two and a half miles from the centre of Edinburgh, the School is easily reached on foot, or by car and public transport.

Edinburgh is a wonderful city to visit at any time of the year, with a wide range of galleries hosting a constantly changing exhibition programme. There are also many significant pieces within the permanent collections of the National Galleries as well as access to sites of interest further afield such as Ian Hamilton Finlay's garden at Little Sparta.

From the four national galleries within the city to the biggest contemporary art gallery in Europe there is plenty in Edinburgh to inspire artists.
