This course is designed for absolute beginners, those new to working from the figure or students wanting to refresh their skills and increase their confidence describing the human form.
Starting the week drawing a range of short and long poses, the basic proportions and anatomy of the figure will be covered. Students will look at how tone and mark-making can be used to describe form, exploring both structured and expressive approaches to drawing the figure. In the second half of the week students will paint from the life model using both acrylic and oil paint. Different approaches to applying paint, colour mixing and colour temperature will all be established. The course will culminate with a sustained oil painting over two days.
