Revising and reworking a painting or drawing is a creative process that can result in an image with a series of layers. Students on this Summer School will have the opportunity to work on one large mixed-media artwork for a whole week, continuously making and erasing their work.
By exploring construction, deconstruction and composition in this way, a piece of work can be created that reveals its development over time. Students will work from an immersive studio installation that will transform throughout the week, with a moving figure providing a human scale. Fundamental observation skills will be taught with a focus on line and tone. Drawing, painting and collage will all be introduced with students encouraged to work expressively.
