This is an ideal course for those wishing to explore the potential of the intaglio processes: drypoint, collagraph and carborundum.

Intaglio printmaking offers the possibility to develop rich qualities of tone and a variety of marks by drawing and scoring lines or textures into a surface. A print is created by filling these incisions with ink and transferring to paper using a printmaking press. Each process will be covered in detail, building confidence to combine techniques and create ambitious work. Students will also have the opportunity to learn how to manipulate multiple plates, work with transparent and opaque inks and introduce colour using the a la poupée method. On completion of the course, students will have developed a substantial body of work which will include exploratory works and a suite of prints completed to a professional standard. This course is suitable for both beginners and experienced printmakers.
