Taking influence from contemporary graphic art and illustration, this one day workshop will focus on play, collaboration and unconventional approaches. The workshop will consider ways in which contemporary graphic artists create imagery and what makes this different to more traditional forms of fine art image making.
Taking the Surrealists as a starting point, the day will consist of a series of short exercises and ‘illustration games’ that will lead students to produce a range of graphically experimental drawings. Driven by the theme of experimentation, students will be encouraged to play with techniques from printmaking, illustration and the graphic arts to produce a diverse range of images. An ideal workshop for those looking to re-examine their individual practice through the lens of the graphic and illustrative arts.
