A two-day workshop exploring drawing as expression with an emphasis on experimental approaches and mixed media processes. Students will begin by working from everyday objects in a number of ways, using a range of materials. Inspiration will be drawn from the work of Alberto Giacometti, Georgia O’Keeffe and Jeanette Barnes.

Students will explore drawing by touch, continuous line, collaborative drawing and timed working, using a variety of media including graphite, charcoal, ink and acrylic paint. On the second day, students will consider how to take observational drawing further into sustained, expressive pieces focused on objects in space considering mark-making and layered tone to express time and movement in drawing. Students will leave with a range of mixed media drawings differing in scale and approach.
