This course is aimed at students who are looking to develop their artistic language in painting and broaden their knowledge, taking inspiration from artists that they are drawn to.
The course will stem from a period of intense study of major works of art located in the National Galleries of Scotland as well as contemporary exhibitions throughout Edinburgh, to be used as a starting point for the development of individual work. Students will also study artists relevant to their own studio practice.
Taking an expanded approach to painting, the course will explore a range of mixed media techniques including pastels, charcoal, collage, ink, oil, acrylic and printmaking. Learning on the course will be through structured workshops which aim to provide a focus for experimental learning and developing work that is relevant to each student's interests and inspirations.
