A week of drawing and painting a life model for anyone who is new to working from the figure or those with some experience wanting to increase their confidence.
Starting the week with shorter poses using charcoal and ink, we will develop techniques for drawing what we see, taking in the overall gesture of a pose using lively mark-making. Line, shape, colour and tone will help us describe the forms of the figure. We will tackle challenging features such as hands and feet, and attention will be given to measuring and introducing some basic anatomy. In the middle of the week, we will start working with colour and explore how to mix ‘flesh’ colours. Students will have the opportunity to draw from more than one model and will finish the week with two sustained acrylic paintings.
