With a DIY approach to lithography, learn how to create rich, vivid and textured prints using this straightforward method.
Beginning with an introduction to the medium of lithography, students will go on to learn how this traditionally labour intensive method of printmaking can be adapted using simple materials: recycled aluminium plates, printer toners, Sharpies and bathroom silicone.
The first day will be spent learning how to prepare a plate, experimenting with various drawing materials and making a print. On the second day, we will add a second layer to our plates and continue printing in the afternoon. By the end of the workshop, students will have gained an in-depth understanding of hand-drawn waterless lithography and created a small suite of exciting and vibrant multi-layered prints.
