Painting

Alice Taylor

Artist’s Statement

This series of paintings is largely based on sketches I made whilst cycling out from Leith. Through the process of looking by drawing intently, I would discover new aspects of the landscape. My paintings are done from these sketches, combined with the memories of the outing.
Painting on smaller boards this term has developed my curiosity for playing with paint, trying out different colour palettes and gestures. I like the idea of paint being able to draw you into a landscape and will forever be enticed by the vibrancy of nature.
