Ceri Hughes

Artist’s Statement

Flowers are often associated with femininity. Given this, within this series, the name of each flower includes snippets from the lived experience of female students on the Painting Course, including my own. In this way, seen alongside the paintings, I seek to explore our responses to and perceptions of the lives and interests of women and the way in which these are viewed by society.
