Landscape

Clare Carr-Saunders

Artist’s Statement

My work is inspired by the forestry tracks and hills where I walk each day. These places are very special to me and I’ve seen them at all times of the day, changing throughout the year. My recent paintings are of a forrest that was destroyed by Storm Arwen. They feel like a eulogy to a friend who saw me through difficult times and use the metaphors of the obscured sun and light in dark places.

Biography

I am an artist living in rural Dumfries and Galloway. I have been creating all my life and have completed three year long courses at LSA to date. I strive each year to create greater space for art practice amongst caring and other commitments.
