Landscape

Heather Rea

Artist’s Statement

Edinburgh’s paths and parks provided much needed connection with nature and the only opportunity to connect with our family and friends during lockdown. They are an interesting space between wildlife and urban living, where we often see the rewilding of manmade structures. Heather has worked to capture and honour these places that we owe much to for our health, both physical and mental. She works by sketching in situ, then developing pastel drawings and finally painting in acrylics and oils in studio.

Biography

Educated in Canada, Ireland and Scotland, Heather has lived in Edinburgh since 1990. She has worked as a researcher in mechanical engineering and a public engagement specialist in academia and is now exploring her creative potential in drawing, painting, glass and ceramics. Heather was a student on the landscape and drawing courses at Leith School of Art this year.
