Joan Walker

Artist’s Statement

As a keen horticulturalist who loves growing plants from seed and watching them mature, my subject matter has been botanical life and garden design. In my recent works, I have enjoyed using the concept of stencils, inspired by Charles Rennie Macintosh and the contemporary artist Hurvin Anderson. Specifically focusing on the contrast between the organic elements with the more geometric shapes.
