Artist's Statement

My passion is in using bold contrasting colours especially black and white, I love trying to create a strong atmosphere and story through my art. I am interested in all mediums of art but recently I have been particularly inspired by print making and the process of it. Going forward I would like to further  pursue printmaking especially etching. After the summer I will be going to Duncan of Jordanstone art college where I will continue to experiment with printing.

I was originally interested by the idea of the early stages of life but after visiting surgeons hall I became interested in the idea of deformations. This led me to look at story’s of deformation throughout history. I then watched the elephant man a movie made about a true story of a man in the 19th century with a very deformed body. Going on in this project I wanted to tell the story of the elephant man and the struggles he went through. Sadly because of a sudden illness I don’t manage to do a final piece so instead I have decided to exhibit my development work for this project.
