Painting

Kelly Stewart

Artist’s Statement

This series of paintings are inspired by aerial views. Im interested in the angular geometric layout of the fields, interconnected by the organic lines created by the roads, paths and waterways that run throughout the landscape. I’ve responded to the subject matter through the language of paint, exploring positive and negative spaces where information is laid down and then either taken away or painted around to create new shapes.

Themes and ideas such compartmentalisation within a societal context and the spiritual leylines like veins that connect the earth’s energy have been explored throughout the process.
