Artist’s Statement

“When the student is ready the teacher will appear” (anon)
I first attended a local drawing class in 2018 at the age of fifty-odds.
The LSA Drawing Course has helped me develop my skills in looking, looking again, squinting, seeing, making marks, rubbing out, looking again… and persevering.
As importantly, for me, it has given me opportunities for creative expression and I gained so much from doing the Drawing Course in 2020/21 that I did it again in 2021/22.
Grateful thanks to Jane Couroussopoulos, Course Tutor and Andreas Christodoulidis, Tutor Support, Sarah Sheard and Rozee Namdaran-Lee, Course Technicians. Also to my wife, Lynne, to Elinor Leslie, to Ginny Elston and Maria Hadam (LSA) and Claudia Petretti, Artist and Teacher, for helping me get here.

Biography

I was born in Edinburgh, where I have lived and worked for much of my life.
I will be enrolling on the Figure and One Day Painting Courses in 2022/23 to develop my interests in painting, use of colour, drawing and painting the human figure and portraiture.
