Kenneth Simpson worked in education – in the state, voluntary and independent sectors – for over 35 years, and he served as Head of English at George Heriot’s School, here in Edinburgh, from 2003 till 2022. Most recently, he taught at St Mary’s Music School in the West End, a small, specialist institution which has much in common with LSA, and where he is also a member of the Board. He has a longstanding professional commitment to the centrality of the arts in education, and strong personal interests in classical music, theatre, opera and literature as well as fine art. As a local resident – he lives just five minutes’ walk from the main campus on North Junction Street – he takes a particular interest in LSA as part of the fabric of Leith itself.
