Explore the rich textures of collagraph printing and create a series of abstract prints.
We’ll begin the day by gathering images and making drawings in the studio from urban, suburban and natural environments. Students will be encouraged to investigate and find hidden forms in their images, going on to create abstracted representations of these forms through print.
The tutor will demonstrate how to texturise a plate and talk you through preparing your own plate for printing. After using the relief press to create prints in a solid tone, you’ll have the chance to experiment with painterly mark-making and drypoint card, enabling you to print relief and intaglio simultaneously.
Through experimenting with the wide variety of marks and textures generated in the collagraph process, you’ll create a series of prints informed by abstracted environments.
