In this William Scott-based workshop, we’ll use the artist’s kitchen table paintings as inspiration to create our own.
Working with acrylics, students will paint from a constructed kitchen scene consisting of 2D and 3D elements. This combination of elements will enable students to reduce these objects to flat shapes, which almost hover above the picture plane. Throughout the day, the set-up will be changed and objects moved, encouraging you to adapt with a changing colour palette.
Focussing on colour theory and the application of the paint, each student will create a series of atmospheric paintings which consider solidity, shape and gesture.
