Discover the beauty and simplicity of the photographic process of cyanotype.
Cyanotype is a photographic technique that creates images in shades of blue, otherwise known as blueprints. When exposed to UV light, objects placed on the prepared paper produce white images, with the background areas taking on a deep blue hue.
During this workshop, we’ll take inspiration from Anna Atkins, a Victorian botanical artist, collector and photographer, and the first person to publish a book of plant specimens using this process. With pre-prepared papers, the tutor will guide you through making your own set of botanical-inspired cyanotype prints. Following a demonstration, we will then create our own concertina books in which we can present our series of prints.
