Translate your own unique artwork into moving image.
There are many artists who use mixed-media animation as part of their practice, including William Kentridge and Martha Colburn, as well as experimental animators like Suzan Pitt and Caroline Leaf.
Students on this workshop are invited to bring their own artwork to this flexible, student-led course exploring experimental 2D animation. The tutor will introduce different ways to use 2D puppetry, collage, frame-by-frame drawing or painting, and adding or removing with paint and charcoal, to bring images to life. We will then develop a short animated sequence from our own artwork, considering how our unique creative voices can be translated into moving images.
Ideal for students who are interested in incorporating animation into their existing creative practice, this course is a great opportunity to develop an idea with focus, equipment, and specialist support.
Each student will need a smartphone, with the free Stop Motion Studio app downloaded before the course. All core materials provided. Concession rates are available.
