Strengthen your confidence in drawing from imagination with a day of playful approaches to image making.
Starting with a few warm-up exercises, we’ll draw from existing forms, concentrating on the juxtaposition of these objects. We’ll use paper and clay as we begin to think about how we might abstract these forms.
Students will move on to constructing organic shapes and expressive figures, playing with ideas of distortion and proportion. With tutor-led prompts, we’ll create narratives from our creations and develop striking compositions which consider balance, movement and visual impact.
Taking inspiration from relevant artists including Jean Arp, Leonora Carrington and Yann Kebbi, each student will have the opportunity to build upon an exercise of their choice and create a series of images based on this.
