A one-day workshop which explores working with colour out in the landscape.
Working with a variety of soft pastels, oil pastels and acrylics, the morning will be spent drawing on location near the School, gathering imagery and responding to colour and structure outside. The afternoon will be spent back in the studio, where you’ll build up several small paintings based on the particular palettes that you’ll have discovered in the morning.
Drawing inspiration from Annabel Gault, Ivon Hitchen, Pierre Bonnard and Ilse D’Hollander, we’ll explore how to work with pastel on location, how to layer colour and achieve compositions that bring out the best in exciting, rich colour combinations.
