A comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals of drawing and painting, this course is specifically aimed at those with no prior experience.
Initially working from simple, still life set-ups, students will be introduced to ways of drawing using line, tone, proportion, form and composition. There will be an opportunity to work from a clothed figure and also experience drawing outside on location. The week will culminate with us learning the essentials of painting and working with colour. Tutor-led demonstrations will help students gain confidence working with a variety of materials. We will learn to draw what we see, as well as how to approach mark-making and image building. This course works well as a ‘primer’ before undertaking other courses at the School.
