Figure

Anna Mackenzie

Artist’s Statement

After experimenting with ways to create portraits using intricate floral backgrounds, I was inspired by a painting by Monika Polak and her use of floral fabric as a canvas. My aim was to create contrast between the soft skin tones of the models and the loud colours and patterns in the 1970’s fabrics that surround and envelope the subject.

Biography

Since leaving school with Art A Level, I’ve always enjoyed drawing and painting and done many short courses. The one year Figure course has really helped my focus and develop my technical skill, confidence and personal style. I’m returning next year as I want to build on this and continue to be pushed to develop further.
