Artist Event: Saturday 17 September | 1 - 3pm

‘The works in the exhibition are drawings made in oil pastel, oil bar, collage, and graphite. This body of work initially began as a response to restrictions preventing me from working at my studio. Small drawings of the various objects I have in my home, were what I had to hand. Once restrictions were lifted, I found I was still absorbed by these familiar things around me.

John Berger's observation that a drawing of a tree is actually a drawing of a tree being looked at, chimed with the particular kind of attention I was giving to these ordinary objects, and inspired the title of the exhibition.’

Jane Couroussopoulos studied painting, etching and engraving at City and Guilds of London Art School. She moved to Edinburgh 34 years ago where she has a studio in Coburg House, Leith. She works as a painting tutor and Drawing Course leader for Leith School of Art, a visiting tutor at Paintbox, and until recently as a community education tutor for Edinburgh City Council.

She recently exhibited a selection of drawings at St Giles’ Cathedral on the Royal Mile, Edinburgh.

All the works in this exhibition are for sale through Leith School of Art. Please contact the School for more information.
