In important news for all the Leith School of Art community, Philip Archer has announced that he has decided to retire from his position as Principal of Leith School of Art when the current academic session ends in June 2019.

Chair of the Board of Directors, Alistair Hector writes: “Philip will retire having served Leith School of Art with great distinction for 27 of the 30 years since the School’s foundation. I am sure all who know and love the School, however long your association, will acknowledge the gratitude we owe him for his excellent work in building Leith into the wonderful art school it is. He will leave Leith School of Art in a strong position to develop its outstanding work well in to the future, with a rich offer of courses, a wide reach in our city and beyond, a hugely able and committed staff, talented and hard-working students, and a vibrant and special sense of community.”

Responsibility for appointing the next Principal lies with the Board of Directors, as Trustees of the charity. Plans are in place to advertise widely early next term and to follow a process which will lead us to the right person for the post by next Easter, with the aim that the new Principal will take up post next academic session.
