When working wet-on-wet with oils, the act of painting – accidents, gestures, moods – becomes embedded in the substance.
During this experimental one-day workshop, students will immerse themselves in the process of working with wet-on-wet oil paint while observing a life model. Going off into the unknown with paint, we’ll play with how to navigate the behaviours of different mediums whilst paying close attention to our own feelings towards the materials and subject matter. Students will be encouraged to engage with the process rather than on an end result.
An intensive but fun workshop, there will be clear teaching with demonstrations where necessary. Relevant artists looked at will include: Winifred Nicholson, Eva Hesse, Nathan Oliveira and Cecily Brown amongst others.
All core materials and equipment are provided.
